In a stunning conclusion to their PBA Season 49 Commissioner's Cup campaign, the Terrafirma Dyip secured their first and only win by defeating the TNT Tropang Giga, 117-108, on January 22, 2025.
Rookie guard Mark Nonoy delivered a breakout performance, scoring a career-high 33 points. His exceptional shooting included 2-of-3 from the four-point area and 5-of-6 from three-point range. Nonoy also contributed four rebounds, four assists, and a steal, leading the Dyip to break their winless streak and finish the conference with a 1-11 record.
The Dyip showcased remarkable accuracy from beyond the arc, sinking 14 triples compared to TNT's eight. This shooting prowess was evident in the third quarter, where Terrafirma hit eight three-pointers, extending their lead to 99-69. Nonoy capped the quarter with a buzzer-beating four-point shot over Rey Nambatac.
Despite a valiant effort from TNT veterans RR Pogoy and Jayson Castro, who led a 19-3 run to narrow the gap to 13 points in the final minutes, Terrafirma maintained their composure. Nonoy sealed the victory with a timely three-pointer, ensuring the Dyip's 117-108 triumph.
TNT, which had been on a six-game winning streak, concluded the conference with a 6-3 record. Terrafirma's head coach, Raymund Tiongco, praised his team's performance, stating, "We made our shots kanina kaya siguro maganda rin 'yung nilaro namin."
